Desert Horse
In the stark beauty of the Namib Desert near Aus, the Desert Horse geoglyph celebrates the legendary feral horses that have roamed this harsh landscape for over a century. Their silhouette stands as a testament to resilience.
Vulture
The Vulture geoglyph near Vanzylsrus pays tribute to nature's essential cleanup crew. With wings outstretched, this guardian of the skies reminds us of the critical role vultures play in healthy ecosystems.
Snake Eagle
The Snake Eagle geoglyph stretches across the Karoo landscape near the historic town of Matjiesfontein. This magnificent bird of prey is depicted in mid-flight, its wings spread wide as it surveys the land below.
Riverine Rabbit
Created in 2015, the Riverine Rabbit Geoglyph combines the forms of the critically endangered Riverine Rabbit (Bunolagus monticularis) and the persecuted Black-backed Jackal, two species native to the Karoo around the town of Loxton. This monumental earth artwork highlights the delicate balance between predator and prey, inspiring conservation awareness while celebrating the unique wildlife and landscapes of the region.
